Circular RNAs accumulate with age, but how they functionally impact on aging remains elusive. Published in Molecular Cell, RNase k has been discovered as a trash remover to cleave circRNAs aggregated and accumulated in stress granules with aging[1]. Raising RNASEK is necessary and sufficient for longevity, and conversely, reducing it leads to accelerated aging in model systems. Arraystar circular RNA Arrays were used to profile circRNAs in the study.
